I wasn’t sure how he was reacting as I was too focused on the asphalt ahead - plus the roar of the engine makes it impossible to talk. We are doing well over three times that.Īs we circled the 2.5-mile-long oval at less than a minute per lap, I took Pyle low, near the yellow line at the bottom of the track up high, near the outside retaining wall and mid-track, all to show him how well the car could handle. Most folks are used to maybe 50 mph tops, on those ramps in their passenger cars. The radius of the turn isn’t much more than that of a highway exit ramp. We accelerated through Turn 1 and Turn 2, banked at an impressive 31 degrees each, onto the long backstretch, and barreled full speed into Turn 3. Once Pyle was ready and the window net secured, I gunned the engine, did a quick fist bump with him, then roared through four gears out of pit lane to blend onto the front-straight. at Daytona International Speedway, March 30, 2024.
